Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how dailymath ("we", "our", or "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use dailymath.co and the related app at app.dailymath.co (together, the "Service").

1. Information we collect

Account information. When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email address from the identity provider (and a profile image, in the case of Google). If you choose Apple's "Hide My Email" option, we only receive a private relay address — we never see your real email.

Activity data. When you solve problems, we record the problems attempted, answers submitted, time spent, hints used, and whether the answer was correct. This is necessary to compute streaks, ratings, and personalized recommendations.

Country. We ask for your country when you set up your account. It is required — we use it to show you the right curriculum, and, if you later join the leaderboard, to place you on the country, continent, and world boards.

Optional profile data. If you choose to join the leaderboard, you pick a username and may optionally add your school and city to be ranked within them — see "The leaderboard" below. None of this — username, school, or city — is required to use dailymath.

Referral information. When your account is created, we record how you arrived — the referring website, and any campaign parameters (utm_source and similar) present in the address bar at that moment. We use this only to understand which channels bring people to dailymath. Nothing is stored on your device to collect it, so we see this only when those details are still present at sign-up.

Analytics. We run two analytics tools on the marketing site (dailymath.co) only — neither loads on the app surface (app.dailymath.co). Visitors.now collects aggregate page-view and interaction data; it runs cookieless, so we can't recognize repeat visitors across sessions. datavisitors is analytics we built and self-host: it is also cookieless and stores nothing on your device. It reads your IP address only to compute a visitor identifier at the edge, then discards the IP immediately — it never reaches our database — and that identifier rotates every 24 hours, so we can't recognize the same visitor across days either. 2. The leaderboard

Joining the leaderboard is optional and separate from creating an account. If you join, you choose a username — that is the only identity ever shown on a leaderboard. Your real name, email address, and profile photo (if you signed in with Google) are never displayed on any board, at any tier.

What's visible depends on the tier:

• School board: your username.
• City board: your username and your school.
• Country board: your username and your city.
• Continent and world boards: your username and your country.

A board only renders once enough people have joined it, so no one is ever shown ranked in a visibly tiny group.

You can leave the leaderboard at any time from Account → Preferences. Leaving deletes your username, school, and city from your profile and removes you from every board immediately.

3. How we use information

• To operate the Service, including authenticating you and saving progress.
• To compute and display streaks, ratings, and personalized problem recommendations.
• To improve the Service — measuring which problems work well, fixing bugs, prioritizing features.
• To communicate with you when you've explicitly opted in (e.g., daily email).
• To detect abuse and prevent fraudulent or unauthorized activity.

4. Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share information only with:

• Service providers we use to run the Service: Convex (database + auth), Vercel (hosting), Visitors.now (analytics on the marketing site only). Each processes data only as needed.
• datavisitors, analytics we built and self-host on our own separate Convex deployment — not a third party — for the same marketing-site page-view data described above.
• Legal authorities when required by law or to protect our or others' rights, property, or safety.

5. Your rights

Under GDPR and similar laws you have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, email hi@dailymath.co. We respond within 30 days.

You can withdraw consent for marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in any message. (Our analytics tools are cookieless and anonymous, so they don't require consent.)

6. Data retention

We retain account data and activity data for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, we delete the associated data within 30 days, except where we are legally required to keep it longer.

7. Children

dailymath is intended for users aged 13 and over. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. Changes

We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be announced on the home page or by email.
